Sanctification: Theprocess of consecrating or setting something apart for holy purposes.  In the O.T., priests, Levites, and eachfamily's firstborn child were consecrated to the Lord.  In N.T., sanctification is regarded as a workof grace and following conversion. (Philippians 1:6)  God calls all believers to holiness andsanctification. (1 Thessalonians 3:3,7)  Those sanctified are committed to God's truthand serve as witnesses to His power and grace in the world.(Romans 6:11-13)

Philippians1:6
6-being confident of this, that he who began a goodwork in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

1Thessalonians 4:3-7
3It is God's will that you should be sanctified:that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4thateach of you should learn to control his own body in a waythat is holy and honorable, 5notin passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong hisbrother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins,as we have already told you and warned you. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but tolive a holy life.

Romans6:11
11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin butalive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Thereforedo not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13Do not offer the parts of yourbody to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God,as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of yourbody to him as instruments of righteousness.
